Improving Drupal’s Speed
One week after the launch of the first really extensive Drupal site I set out to find out what I could do to make the overall experience better for the end user. I wanted to know what I could do to speed things up. So I went searching. Although, right off the bat things were already noticeably faster.
Merge Conflicts in your Composer Files
You’re working on a project, an urgent bug comes up so you switch your git branches, make the fix, get it reviewed and merge it into the source code. You’re feeling like a million bucks for saving the day. Meanwhile the feature you’ve been working on in another branch for the last three weeks is ready for your attention again and you have to get the work you did on the urgent request to sync up with the work you’ve done over the past few weeks.
My Drupal Adventure…so far.
Becoming a developer was daunting. I dabbled in some behind the scenes code work as a Sports Information Director. I could use tags, look at source code and get the page to do what I wanted with my limited knowledge. I managed some Squarespace pages but I was stuck in the realm of only doing what the GUI would allow me to do. So I took the Awesome Inc U Bootcamp to completely change my life.
Architectural Mistakes not to make in Drupal
Many pieces of this blog post have been taken from other sources and will serve as a reference for my future self as a place to come to reference details on Composer and Drupal. All it ever takes is a little mashing at the keyboard and lots of dependency errors for you to really nail down how Drupal and Composer can work together.
Best Practices: Get the most out of Drupal and do it well.
This is definitely just acting as a bookmark for me. Acquia, one of the leaders of hosts in Drupal sites, run a very informative blog that is great at giving you little snippets of information that will make you a better Drupal programmer moving forward.

Congrats! You made it to the Finish (Start) Line!
Today (August 11, 2011) marks exactly 81 days since I walked into Awesome Inc for the first classroom session of a three-month-long Developer Bootcamp. It seems like it was years ago but at the same time I feel like I just started this thing last week.
Agile/Scrum
Whew. It’s been a busy ride the past couple weeks. Every time I sit down to jot out a blog post I have no idea how it happens but I get side tracked. Whether it’s a project that I’ve been hashing out or just spending some time being present at home, something seems to get in the way.
AngularJS Card Game: A Technical Approach
Hey Everyone-
Console.log(Hello Javascript!)
Phew… surprised I even have the energy to write anything about anything after the week I’ve had. Between coaching and dad-ing and going to class full-time with loads of work in between I’ve come to the conclusion that God did not make enough hours in the day (or He just didn’t make me last long enough during said days).
What I learned at Camp :)
Hey everyone!
Working with Jekyll is both confusing and fun. Weird
This is my second attempt at launching a Jekyll site. I found it incredibly rewarding the first time I did it, but ultimately ended up frustrated with the end result. I hope this time turns out better.
